28/07/2020 (Agence Europe) – The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has published a guide for standards developers (ISO GUIDE 84) to ensure that climate issues are taken into account in every new standard that is developed, ISO announced on Tuesday 28 July. These guidelines provide a systems approach, principles to be observed and useful information to help standards developers address the impacts, risks and opportunities of climate change. As some standards are widely used in many industries, the guide can help organisations build resilience, help prepare for future climate impacts, and address the risks and opportunities of the low-carbon transition. This guide also encourages the revision of existing standards. It complements the ISO 82 guide on incorporating sustainability into standards. (AN)
