08/07/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced on Wednesday 8 July that the EU is providing €22.7 million in humanitarian aid for vulnerable people in Palestine who find themselves increasingly under threat from violence, hardship and lack of essential services. The Palestinian people were already affected by restrictions on their movement before the Covid-19 pandemic. The coronavirus has exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. “The EU continues to provide assistance in critical sectors such as health care, education and safe water. Serious violations of international humanitarian law resulting in the forced displacement of civilians, often preventing them from accessing basic services and livelihoods, need to stop”, said Janez Lenarčič, the EU Commissioner for Crisis Management, in a statement.
