07/07/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 7 July, the European Union announced the delivery of 65,000 FFP2 masks to Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia. The masks are from the common European reserve of medical equipment created to help countries affected by the Coronavirus outbreak – rescEU – which is based in Romania. They are in addition to the 370,000 already delivered through rescEU, as well as the in-kind assistance provided through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism and bilateral offers from EU Member States. Romania and Germany are the first Member States to host the rescEU reserve and are therefore responsible for procuring medical items. The European Commission, for its part, finances 100% of the procurement, maintenance and delivery costs. (CG)
