29/06/2020 (Agence Europe) – The High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, said on Monday 29 June that Turkey is "arguably the most pressing foreign policy issue for the EU", while acknowledging the Member States’ divergent positions. In a discussion organised by ECFR, he explained that the EU/Turkey relationship is "going from bad to worse". "It’s something we cannot afford; there are so many issues [on which] we are mutually dependent", he warned. According to Mr Borrell, all of the issues must be discussed in order to find "a comprehensive solution" (see EUROPE 12514/22). "At least our neighbourhood relations have to be good", he explained, adding that the EU has much greater ambitions. (CG)
