29/06/2020 (Agence Europe) – Speaking at the opening of the Automotive Round Table in Spain on Monday 29 June, the Commissioner for the Internal Market, Thierry Breton, stressed the need to seize the transition to electro-mobility as an opportunity to relaunch the sector. Building on the recommendations of the 'European Semester', which was made by the Commission to Spain in respect of 2020, the Commissioner emphasised the promotion of electric vehicles and the development of the appropriate infrastructure, in particular the deployment of 150,000 electric terminals as part of a cross-border project involving Portugal, Spain and Italy. According to the Commissioner, Spain must seize the opportunity to move towards using batteries (see EUROPE 12490/16) and hydrogen (see EUROPE 12511/11) in order to hopefully mobilise EU financial support under the European Recovery Plan in an effective manner (see EUROPE 12515/2).
