29/06/2020 (Agence Europe) – The incumbent Polish president, Andrzej Duda, a member of the ruling PiS party, came out on top in the first round of the presidential election in Poland on Sunday 28 June, as the polls predicted. He will face the Liberal candidate and mayor of Warsaw, Rafal Trzaskowski, in the second round on 12 July. According to the partial results announced by the National Electoral Commission (PKW) quoted by AFP, the incumbent president obtained 45.24% of the votes. The mayor of Warsaw came second with 28.92% of the votes. The independent candidate, Rafal Holownia, obtained 13.69% of the votes. None of the other eight candidates, including S&D MEP Robert Biedron, surpassed the 10% threshold. (SP)
