29/06/2020 (Agence Europe) – The High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, called on the EU Member States on 29 June to provide adequate resources for EU CSDP missions. "We are not at the level of the challenges we are facing", he explained during a discussion organised by ECFR. "The member states should be more ready to provide the capacities when we launch a mission", he said. According to him, the latest EU operation, Irini, showed that "in the moment of truth there is no force engagement at the level required to fulfil the mission". It was the same thing for the Sahel, he added. Furthermore, Mr Borrell felt that the projects developed in the framework of permanent structured cooperation were not developing at the desired speed.
