18/06/2020 (Agence Europe) – Just under a hundred organisations are advocating that the future European budget, which is to be discussed by European decision-makers at the weekend, should also benefit the cultural and creative sector. The appeal, made by the Impala association, which brings together independent music labels, is addressed to the European Parliament and the Member States. The co-signatories criticise the shift to the Creative Europe programme, whose proposed budget for the period 2021-2027 is larger than in the previous programming period, but much smaller than initially envisaged (see EUROPE 12495/14). The 94 organisations also call for the sector to be able to benefit from the instruments proposed in the Next Generation EU recovery programme. (SPj)
