Meeting on Wednesday 17 June to analyse, with a view to a final agreement, the fourth Croatian draft compromise on the revision of the so-called ‘Eurovignette’ Directive (see EUROPE 12502/2), the Member States’ Ambassadors to the European Union (Coreper) once again postponed the adoption of a political agreement in principle (general approach) on this sensitive dossier.
Some 10 States were opposed to the conclusion of an agreement, believing that the decision should be taken by the competent Ministers.
The dossier will therefore be put back on the negotiating table at the next Transport Council, to be held in September under the German Presidency.
When presenting his priorities for the next 6 months on Wednesday 17 June, German Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer said that a “new version of the text” would be needed to find a solution. But Germany is “not yet ready” to make a proposal, he added, as he wishes to talk to his counterparts beforehand. (Original version in French by Agathe Cherki)
