10/06/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 10 June, on behalf of the EU, Josep Borrell, its High Representative, expressed “its outrage and deep concern” at the killings that took place between 3 and 5 June in central Mali, and called for impunity to be combatted. “There are serious suspicions about the possible involvement of Mali’s army. The European Union encourages the Government of Mali to complete the investigations that it has started, create the conditions needed to establish the exact circumstances of these attacks, ensure that justice is done, and combat impunity for those people who are guilty of such actions, whatever these may be”, said Borrell. He also emphasised that the EU's commitment to the states in the Sahel region “is based on respect for human rights”. (AN)
