05/06/2020 (Agence Europe) – MEPs on the Committee for Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) adopted, on Thursday 4 June, by a majority bordering on unanimity (75 votes in favour, 1 vote against, 1 abstention), the text carried by Massimiliano Salini (EPP, Italy) on the EU Space Programme Regulation, confirming the European Parliament’s first-reading position, thus opening negotiations with the EU Council. The Parliament's position therefore remains unchanged from its position before the European elections. It will now be necessary to wait for the EU Council to adopt its position on the basis of the Commission's new proposals on space policy (EUROPE 12498/16, 12499/14) before interinstitutional negotiations can begin.
