04/06/2020 (Agence Europe) – The services of the European Commission wrote, on Wednesday 27 May, to the authorities of the Polish regions of Lublin, Łódź, Lesser Poland, Podkarpackie and Świętokrzyskie. All five regions run programmes supported by EU structural and investment funds and are among the Polish localities declared “LGBT ideology-free zones”. An initiative that MEPs opposed last December (see EUROPE 12393/13). The Commission therefore called on the Polish authorities to ensure compliance with Community law and non-discriminatory access to activities financed by cohesion policy, confirmed the institution to EUROPE. Condemning all forms of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender, she also indicated that she was waiting for “further clarification” and for measures to promote equality and non-discrimination.
