28/05/2020 (Agence Europe) – High Representative of the Union Josep Borrell and India’s Minister for External Relations Subrahmanyam Jaishankar agreed in a video conference on Thursday 28 May that the Covid-19 pandemic made the EU-India strategic partnership even more relevant. “This was true in terms of joining efforts to strengthen the multilateral system, as well as in further developing the bilateral relationship, including trade and investment and security cooperation”, the EEAS said in a statement. Both men confirmed their commitment to work together to overcome the pandemic and stressed the importance of effective global socio-economic recovery. In their view, there is a need to ensure the flow of essential medical supplies and to keep global trade and value chains open. They also discussed the preparations for the EU-India Summit postponed due to the coronavirus “which will be held as soon as possible”, according to the EEAS. (CG)
