28/05/2020 (Agence Europe) – The twenty-sixth Conference of the Parties to the Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26, Glasgow), which was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, will finally be held from 1 to 12 November 2021. This is the United Kingdom’s proposal, as the current holders of the Presidency of this COP. After a broad consultation with all parties beforehand, the new dates were submitted to the UN on Thursday 28 May by the UK and were subject to approval. The British Government considers that, given the uneven spread of the coronavirus around the world, these dates present the lowest risk of a further postponement of the COP for public health reasons and offer the best chance of achieving an ambitious outcome.
