19/05/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced, on Tuesday 19 May, that an additional €122 million will be mobilised under the EU's research and innovation programme, Horizon 2020. Winning applicants will benefit from a new call for expressions of interest, dedicated to urgent research projects on the new coronavirus. The call for events should “complement earlier actions to develop diagnostics, treatments and vaccines by strengthening capacity to manufacture and deploying readily available solutions”, the Commission says in a statement. Interested parties have until June 11th to submit their application. The €122 million announced will be taken from the €1.4 billion budget that the Commission committed to disbursing at the World Donors' Conference (see EUROPE 12479/1) in early May. (AC)
