19/05/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 18 May, the European Commission opened a public consultation on revision of the European Union Regulation on the trans-European energy network (TEN-E – 347/2013) scheduled for the end of the year. “To become a climate neutral continent by 2050, Europe needs energy infrastructure that is modern, resilient, secure and able to accommodate a much greater share of renewables. The updated TEN-E regulation will set out the rules for cross-border energy projects to make sure that they are in line with our climate ambition”, said European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson. This consultation follows the recently launched consultation on the roadmap for this review (see EUROPE 12485/10) and is accompanied by a more technical consultation to gather input from stakeholders with expertise in energy infrastructure.
