12/05/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission announced on Tuesday 12 May that it has approved the application for the inclusion of ‘Fasolia Kattavias Rodou’/’Lopia Kattavias Rodou’ from Greece and ‘Podpiwek kujawski’ from Poland in the Community Register of Protected Geographical Indications (PGI). The Greek products are dried white bean seeds grown on the island of Rhodes in the municipal district of Kattavia. Local producers still apply traditional cultivation techniques, and Kattavia celebrates the annual Bean Soup Festival. ‘Podpiwek kujawski’ is a Polish cereal-based, carbonated, fermented, sweetened and non-alcoholic dark brown beverage, the main ingredients of which are: roasted barley grains, ground chicory roots and aromatic hops. This drink is produced in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodship. (LC)
