05/05/2020 (Agence Europe) – In a press release issued on Monday 4 May, the Vice-Presidents of the European Parliament responsible for communication called on Member States to do more to inform the public about EU action and solidarity in the fight against Covid-19. Despite the European Union's numerous actions, they are disappointed that much of these efforts remain “under-reported or, worse, disinformation campaigns are gaining traction”, which is detrimental to the efforts being made. In particular, they have called for press conferences and video updates by the Presidency of the European Commission to be widely distributed in the Member States: as they explain it, “information creates collective awareness”.
