29/04/2020 (Agence Europe) – Italy’s Antonio Parenti has been appointed to head the European Commission’s Representation in Italy, which includes offices in Rome and Milan, and he will take up his duties on 1 June, the European institution announced on Wednesday 29 April. A European official for 25 years, Mr Parenti is currently Head of the Economics, Trade and Development Section of the European Union Delegation to the United Nations. On Wednesday, the Commission also extended the mandate of Spain’s Ferran Tarradellas Espuny, head of the regional representation in Barcelona, until 31 August 2020 due to the current Covid-19 crisis. It has representations in all the capitals of the Member States, as well as regional offices in Barcelona, Bonn, Marseille, Milan, Munich and Wrocław. (MB)
