17/04/2020 (Agence Europe) – In a letter sent to the Commissioner for Employment and Social Rights, Nicolas Schmit, on Tuesday 14 April, the employers' organisation BusinessEurope has requested postponement of the implementation of the directive (2018/957) concerning the posting of workers (see EUROPE 11972/2). The new rules are due to be implemented on 30 July. The organisation explains in its letter that the deadline is too close, at a time when the Covid-19 pandemic is paralysing the European economy, and does not allow companies enough time to put appropriate measures in place. BusinessEurope, which has the support of FIEC, CEEMET, ECEG, EFCI and GEOPA, is calling on the Commission to use a fast procedure in order to postpone implementation of the European rules.
