02/04/2020 (Agence Europe) – An agreement was reached on Wednesday 1 April between the European Commission and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). It was agreed that EASA would “manage urgent research actions” in the field of aviation safety and environmental protection. These research activities, which will cover topics such as environmental research, the vulnerability of aircraft to drone impacts and the effectiveness of flight time limitations, will be funded to the tune of €13 million over the next seven years. Funding will be provided under the EU's research and innovation programme, 'Horizon 2020' EFSA will therefore be “responsible for contracting, the technical oversight and the proper dissemination and usage of the research results”, the institution said in a press release.
