02/04/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European Union is working on a coordinated approach for an exit strategy from the COVID-19 pandemic, in particular for a lifting of the lockdown measures. Speaking to the press, the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said that while it was too early to take action, it was appropriate to reflect on an intelligent exit strategy to be applied at the right time. "Member States recognise that they should not repeat the mistakes of the beginning of the crisis". We should develop criteria, a roadmap or a pathway for how to proceed," she said, pointing out that the timetable would differ from region to region. This will depend, she noted, on the state of development of the virus, the capacity of hospitals in terms of beds or the state of the supply chain. (SPj)
