02/04/2020 (Agence Europe) – In a videoconference dialogue on the environment, the European Commission and Japan stressed the need to strengthen the resilience of people and the planet and to ensure a " green recovery", once the urgency of the COVID-19 health crisis had passed, said a statement from the institution on Wednesday 1 April. According to the Commission, both sides expressed their continued commitment to advancing the environmental agenda at national and multilateral levels, including in relation to the UN Biodiversity Summit and the fifth session of the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA-5). They also reaffirmed the importance of moving towards an ambitious and realistic post-2020 global framework for biodiversity and strengthening the G20 dialogue on resource efficiency, the communiqué said.
