26/03/2020 (Agence Europe) – The first meeting of the Joint Committee responsible, inter alia, for the implementation of the Northern Ireland Protocol, but also for the section on Citizens’ Rights provided for in the withdrawal agreement, will take place on 30 March by videoconference. This joint committee, which includes, for the EU, Maros Šefčovič and, for the UK, Michael Gove, is responsible, among other things, for setting risk criteria for goods and merchandise bound for Northern Ireland from Great Britain. On the other hand, the two sides have not yet set new dates for the second round of negotiations on the future relationship, these discussions being complicated in particular by the fact that the EU negotiator, Michel Barnier, has contracted COVID-19. The Commission is “currently analysing the draft agreement” submitted to it by London and the teams are “in contact”. Link to the agenda: https://bit.ly/3byGuUF (SP)
