EU laments motion of censure voted against government

26/03/2020 (Agence Europe)On Thursday, 26 March, European Commission spokesperson Ana Pisonero lamented that the motion of censure against the Kosovar government had been approved. She stressed that the vote “puts Kosovo in a difficult political situation at a time of an unprecedented crisis caused by the coronavirus”. According to her, the country needs “stability and to direct all efforts to tackle the coronavirus crisis and protect the health of people”. “All political leaders have now to act responsibly and in the interest of the people of Kosovo. The next steps after yesterday’s vote should be taken in accordance with Kosovo’s Constitution,” she added. The motion of censure was supported by 82 votes out of 120. Prior to the vote, the international community had called for unity in the country in order to face the coronavirus (see EUROPE 12453/32 and 12450/25). (CG)
