28/02/2020 (Agence Europe) – Young climate activist Greta Thunberg will be the guest of the European Parliament’s Environment Committee on Wednesday 4 March for an exchange of views at an extraordinary meeting of the European Parliament’s Environment Committee open to all MEPs. The meeting was deliberately convened for the day when the European Commission will present its proposal for a climate law - the flagship measure of the European Green Deal, which is intended to enshrine in legislation the EU’s commitment to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 (see EUROPE 12413/7) – a collective target agreed by the European Council in December. An exchange of views with parliamentarians is scheduled from 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. Just before, the young Swedish activist will be received by the President of the European Parliament, David Sassoli. (AN)
