19/02/2020 (Agence Europe) – “If the Green Deal is to succeed, the EU must provide the chargers needed for the electric trucks that are currently coming to market”, the NGO Transport&Environment (T&E) said on Wednesday 19 February at a conference on decarbonising trucks. In a roadmap published for the occasion, T&E points out that electric trucks coming onto the market could cover half of the total distance travelled by trucks in the EU, provided sufficient loading infrastructure is available. According to the NGO, the EU should thus set national targets for loading infrastructure by 2025 for major urban centres and distribution centres and by 2030 for other centres and major roads. According to a draft document, the European Commission’s industrial strategy should include an initiative on electric refills and alternative fuels (see EUROPE 12412/7).
