19/02/2020 (Agence Europe) – The Vice-President responsible for promoting the European way of life, Margaritis Schinas, told MEPs in the European Parliament’s Committee on ‘Civil Liberties’, on Wednesday 19 February, that the Commission would present a new EU internal security strategy "in June, before the summer". This strategy will detail the actions envisaged in this area over the next 5 years. The EU's priorities are the fight against terrorism and organised crime, information exchange and security in the digital age. One of the first proposals will be to strengthen Europol's mandate and adapt it to current threats. The Vice-President recalled on this occasion that the EU is in great need of an agreement on the removal of terrorist content online, while the European Parliament and the Council of the EU have yet to reach one.
