10/02/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 10 February, the European Commission approved under the EU Merger Regulation the creation of Automotive Cells Company (‘ACC’), a full-function joint venture, by PSA and Total (through its subsidiary Saft), all based in France. The joint venture will be active in the manufacture and supply of cells and modules for electric batteries, mainly for automobiles. The Commission concluded that the proposed concentration would not give rise to competition concerns due to the limited presence of the companies and the large number of competitors on the upstream market for the production of electric battery cells and modules and on the downstream market for the production of motor vehicles. PSA is a manufacturer of vehicles and automotive components. Total is active in the energy sector. (LC)
