10/02/2020 (Agence Europe) – On the occasion of the visit of the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, on Saturday 8 February, devoted to the negotiations on the next multiannual financial framework (see EUROPE 12421/1), the Croatian Prime Minister, Andrej Plenković, indicated that he would “do everything” to ensure that his country benefits from “appropriate” cohesion funds in the next European budget. “Along with Portugal, we are one of the countries in which European funds account for the bulk of public investment. Also, the fact that we have only been members of the EU for seven years puts us in a special position, and I’m sure colleagues will acknowledge that”, said the Prime Minister, whose country holds the rotating Presidency of the EU Council. Mr Michel will soon present a compromise proposal on the next MFF ahead of the extraordinary summit on 20 February. (PH)
