04/02/2020 (Agence Europe) – MEP Manolis Kefalogiannis (EPP, Greece) has been appointed to monitor the regulation establishing the Just Transition Fund, we were informed on Tuesday 4 February. It has taken some time for the group's coordinator on the Regional Development Committee, Andrey Novakov, to make his decision since it was announced that the legislative text would go to the EPP (see EUROPE 12408/31). Although the Fund is endowed with a relatively small sum (€7.5 billion), the legislative dossier remains delicate because of its operation, which relies heavily on other structural and investment funds, notably the post-2020 European Regional Development Fund and the European Social Fund Plus (see EUROPE 12403/2).
