New companies ready to voluntarily commit to safety of their products sold online by third party sellers

29/01/2020 (Agence Europe)On the occasion of the annual Consumer Summit hosted by the European Commission in Brussels (30-31 January), two new companies - C-Discount (France) and Allegro (Poland) - will formally commit, on a voluntary basis, to ensure that no unsafe products are sold online by third party sellers. The European Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders, and a representative of each of these companies will take part, on Thursday 30 January, in the signing ceremony of a product safety pledge, which goes beyond what is already established by European legislation. In June 2018, several online marketplaces had voluntarily committed themselves to improving the safety of non-food consumer products sold online by third party sellers (see EUROPE 12048/18). (AN)
