23/01/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 23 January, the MEPs on the European Parliament Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) voted, by 48 votes to four, with one abstention, to back the decision to open interinstitutional negotiations on the proposal for a regulation on establishing a framework for the recovery and resolution of central clearing houses (CCPs). The legislative proposal, which was presented at the end of November 2016, aims to create a single framework for all authorised CCPs in the EU. The European Parliament adopted its position in January 2018 (see EUROPE 11946/10) and the Council of the EU its position in December 2019 (see EUROPE 12383/28). The first negotiation meeting between the European Parliament and the Council of the EU is expected to take place at the end of January. (MF)
