23/01/2020 (Agence Europe) – Following the presentation by the European Commission of its Communication on the Conference on the Future of Europe (see EUROPE 12409/2) on Wednesday 22 January, the European Centre of Employers and Enterprises providing Public Services (CEEP) insisted that social partners be involved in the consultation process. For the organisation, only a “genuine inter-institutional approach” involving all institutions, including consultative bodies and partners, could fulfil the ambitions and expectations expressed in this initiative. “The Conference on the Future of Europe should not be an exercise ‘by the EU bubble for the EU bubble’”, warns CEEP General Secretary Valeria Ronzitti. The issue of the governance of the Conference raises questions. For the time being, the European Parliament proposals have not been retained by the European Commission (see EUROPE 12404/1, 12405/1).
