21/01/2020 (Agence Europe) – Members of Parliament’s Transport Committee (TRAN) approved by a very large majority (47 votes in favour and 2 against) on Tuesday 21 January the agreement reached in the inter-institutional negotiations (‘trilogues’) on the electronic exchange of information in freight (eFTI) (see EUROPE 12378/8). On the Council of the European Union side, the agreement still needs to be endorsed by the Transport Ministers of the Member States. This step should be a formality, as the agreement has been given the green light by the Member States’ Ambassadors to the EU (Coreper) (see EUROPE 12393/31). At Parliament level, the interinstitutional agreement has yet to be put to the vote at the plenary session. (DG)
