21/01/2020 (Agence Europe) – Parliament’s Committee on Fisheries recommended on Tuesday 21 January approving the legislative acts on the conclusion of the new fisheries agreement between the EU and the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, covering the years 2019-2024 (see EUROPE 12270/39, 12233/8). About 50 EU vessels targeting bottom-living fish species (including cephalopods and crustaceans) as well as tuna and small pelagic species will benefit from the agreement, which was initialled in November 2018. The annual financial contribution from the European Union to the Government of Guinea-Bissau amounts to €15.6 million (€11.6 million for access to fishery resources and €4 million for the development of Guinea-Bissau's sectoral fisheries policy and blue economy).
