09/01/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday, 9 January, the European Commission approved the acquisition of joint control of Optimile NV by BNP Paribas Fortis NV/SA (‘BNPPF’), AG Insurance NV/SA (‘AGI’) and Koninklijke Belgische Touring Club VZW (‘Touring’), all based in Belgium. Optimile develops and markets mobility-related software. BNPPF provides a complete package of banking and financial services. AGI is a multi-channel insurance company operating in Belgium. Touring is active in the provision of road and travel assistance services, short-term rentals, replacement cars and car sales, car window repair and replacement, technical inspection of vehicles and travel insurance. The Commission concluded that the proposed acquisition would not raise competition concerns given the very limited impact it will have on the structure of the market. (LC)
