03/01/2020 (Agence Europe) – Over the years, Bulgaria has improved its control and control measures for outbreaks of avian influenza (bird flu), concludes a report by the EU's Food and Veterinary Office (FVO) published on 12 December. The report states that the competent Bulgarian authorities were not well prepared to control the first wave of the epidemic in 2016-2017. The problems contributed to the recurrence of the disease on several occasions between 2017 and 2019. Since then, the competent authorities have remedied the “significant deficiencies” identified in the biosecurity measures to prevent the introduction and transmission of avian influenza.
