03/01/2020 (Agence Europe) – The Croatian city of Rijeka and the Irish city of Galway became European Capitals of Culture at the beginning of 2020. Rijeka, the first Croatian city to obtain this title, has chosen as its slogan ‘The Port of Diversity’ (https://rijeka2020.eu/en/ ). The artistic works will focus on themes such as water and migration, starting in February. Gastronomy and world music festivals will also take place. ‘Let the magic in’ is the slogan chosen by Galway, the third Irish city to be European Capital of Culture. Languages, literature, landscapes, migration, as well as... rain will be celebrated as a source of artistic inspiration. In 2021, the European Capitals of Culture will be Timisoara (Romania), Eleusis (Greece) and Novi Sad (Serbia). In 2022, it will be the turn of Esch-sur-Alzette (Luxembourg) and Kaunas (Lithuania).
