19/12/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission will propose a recommendation on the resettlement of refugees on European soil, announced Home Affairs Commissioner Ylva Johansson and Vice-President for the promotion of the European way of life Margaritis Schinas on 18 December alongside the International Migrants Day and the First Global Forum on Refugees in Geneva. This recommendation is expected early next year, explained the Commissioner's spokesperson's office, which did not provide more details. At the Forum, Ms Johansson also announced financial support for Member States that have committed to more than 30,000 resettlement places by the year 2020. They will receive €10,000 for each resettled person from a priority region (Libya, Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan) and €6,000 for those from non-priority regions. (SP)
