19/12/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission launched on Thursday 19 December a public consultation to gather stakeholders' views on the adequacy of the existing regulatory framework for crypto-assets including stable coins (see EUROPE 12384/24). "We need to develop a common approach on crypto-assets, while addressing risks in a proportionate way. We therefore invite investors, banks, supervisors, consumers and other stakeholders to share their views on how the financial sector could benefit from digitalisation in a safe manner", said Commission Executive Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis in a statement. On the same day, the Commission also launched a public consultation on how to better combat cyber attacks on the financial sector. Interested parties have until 18 March, 2020, to provide comments.
