28/11/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 28 November, the European Commission authorised the import into the European Union of eight genetically modified organisms (GMOs) intended for food and feed, a number of which are resistant to glyphosate. This relates to maize MZHG0JG, MON 89034 x 1507 x NK603 x DAS-40278-9, MON 89034 x 1507 x MON 88017 x 59122 x DAS-40278-9, Bt11 x MIR162 x MIR604 x 1507 x 5307 x GA21, as well as soybean MON 89788, A2704-12, cotton LLCotton25 and oilseed rape T45. These authorisations, which are valid for 10 years, do not cover the cultivation of these GMOs in the EU, and have been subject to an extensive monitoring procedure; Member States have also had the opportunity to express their opinions, the European institution points out in a statement.
