28/11/2019 (Agence Europe) – The Diesel Emissions Justice Foundation (DEJF), a Dutch non-profit organisation, announced on Tuesday 26 November the launch of a European-wide collective action against the German car manufacturer Volkswagen (VW) to hold it liable for the manipulation of the NOx emissions data for some of its vehicles, the infamous Dieselgate. "8.5 million European car owners suffered serious damages and are entitled to an adequate and reasonable compensation - even if VW pretends to have addressed the issue with so-called repairs and updates", said a member of the board of directors and DEJF spokesperson Maria José Azar-Baud. Committing itself to "vigorously claiming throughout Europe if VW does not shed light on past actions", the DEJF started its campaign in the Netherlands in September 2019, continues it today in Belgium and intends to extend it soon to other European countries, with the objective of constituting a set of interconnected actions covering the whole of Europe.
