21/11/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament's Anti-Racism and Diversity Intergroup and more than 140 MEPs sent a letter to UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin on Wednesday 20 November urging him to fight racism in European stadiums more vigorously. The letter follows a series of incidents across the EU, the latest of which occurred last week during a football match in the Netherlands. MEPs also call on UEFA to impose significant sanctions in the cases of repeated racism, including the potential expulsion of clubs and countries from tournaments. "There is beauty in the joy of winning and in the pain of loss. Racism however should not be part of it. It taints the beautiful game", said Intergoup Co-President Samira Rafaela (Renew Europe, Netherlands), in a statement. See the letter: http://bit.ly/34iA7BH (MF)
