18/11/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Internal Market and Industry (DG GROW) recently published a preliminary information note to create new opportunities for EGNSS. Objective: To call for a new service contract to assess the feasibility of an EGNSS signal-based safety service for the rail sector after 2022, which would streamline rail signalling infrastructure. There are now about 20 rail signalling systems in the EU to control rail traffic, a situation that generates costs and complexity, explained the GSA agency on Friday 15 November in a statement. The Commission is currently reflecting on developments for EGNSS, as well as for Galileo, in the coming years. To consult the Commission's note: http://bit.ly/2NZVUIg (PH)
