07/11/2019 (Agence Europe) – According to a Eurochambres economic survey of 53,000 companies published on Tuesday 5 November, the main concerns of the business community are domestic sales and anaemic exports, as well as challenges related to the lack of skilled labour, factors that hinder investment and private sector growth. The rising price of raw materials and energy is also another cause for concern. In general, companies are less optimistic than a year ago. “European businesses need a stronger single market, a favourable trade environment and measures to tackle the persistent skills gap if the European economy is going to prosper”, commented Eurochambres President Christoph Leitl, who wants to send a strong message to policy makers and, in particular, to the new Commission.
