07/11/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 7 November, the Eurogroup approved the candidacy of Isabel Schnabel of Germany for the position of member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank (ECB) (see EUROPE 12364/20). This position will be formally endorsed by the ECOFIN Council on 8 November, before being formally endorsed by the December European Council. Isabel Schnabel, a professor at the University of Bonn and member of the German Council of Economic Experts, will be appointed for an 8-year, non-renewable term. She will succeed her compatriot Sabine Lautenschläger, who had announced her resignation in disagreement with the latest accommodative monetary policy decisions taken by the Frankfurt Monetary Institute in September (see EUROPE 12326/1).
