Isabel Schnabel proposed to replace Sabine Lautenschläger on Executive Board of Monetary Institute

23/10/2019 (Agence Europe) – The German authorities appointed Isabel Schnabel as a member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank (ECB) on Wednesday 23 October, Reuters has reported. Professor at the University of Bonn, member of the German Council of Economic Experts, she could replace her compatriot Sabine Lautenschläger, who had resigned for disagreeing with the latest decisions on accommodative monetary policy taken by the Frankfurt-based Monetary Institute in September (see EUROPE 12326/1). It will be up to the Eurogroup to take a final decision, perhaps as early as Thursday 7 November. (MB)
