22/08/2019 (Agence Europe) – Following an invitation from the Tunisian Higher Independent Authority for the Elections (ISIE), the European Union announced in early August that it will deploy an electoral observation mission for the presidential elections on 15 September and for the parliamentary elections on 6 October. A senior team of 10 electoral analysts will be based in Tunis from Friday 23 August. The team will be joined on 2 September by 28 long-term observers, deployed throughout the country and 28 short-term observers who will strengthen the system during the different election days. MEP Fabio Massimo Castaldo (NI, Italy) has been appointed chief election observer for the European mission.
