22/08/2019 (Agence Europe) – On 6 August, the European Commission announced an additional €127 million for the emergency safety net programme, which provides refugees in Turkey with monthly financial assistance through a special debit card. This new funding, paid through the EU Refugee Facility in Turkey, brings the total EU contribution to the programme to €1.125 billion. In a statement, the European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid, Christos Stylianides, said that this aid "will help reach more than 1.6 million refugees and help them live with dignity in Turkey".
